Looking Foolish

This Sunday, May 25 , at Graystone Church, I will be finishing up our series, Phobia, and I will be talking about "Overcoming the Fear of Looking Foolish" (I hope too many people do not miss it, because of Memorial Day Weekend. It is gonna be good.).

Let me give you a sneak peak to this Sunday's message:

Faith is the willingness to look foolish.

It takes a foolish faith to do great things for God.

- Noah built an ark when rain was not in the forecast for 120 years.

- Sarah bought maternity clothes @ ninety.

- The Israelites marched around Jericho blowing trumpets.

- David attacked Goliath with a sling shot.

- Benaiah chased a lion.

- The Wise Men followed a star.

- Peter stepped out of a boat in the middle of the sea.

- Jesus hung half-naked on a cross.

Noah was saved from the flood. Sarah gave birth to Isaac. The walls of Jericho came crashing down. David defeated Goliath. Benaiah killed the lion. The Wise Men found the Messiah. Peter walked on water. And Jesus rose from the dead.

Let me tell you why some of us have never walked on water, killed a giant or found a Messiah. It is because we are not willing to look foolish.

"God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise." 1 Corinthians 1:27 (NLT)
