Tuesday-Day of Prayer and Fasting

Tuesday, June 17 Graystone Church will be joining over 1400 other churches through One Prayer for a Day of Prayer and Fasting. We will be fasting and praying for God to perform specific miracles on our lives. Now, I know that each of you have a specific miracle that you would like for God to perform in your life (I.e. finances, healing, reconciliation of a relationship, future spouse, conception of a child, etc.) and I want to encourage you to continue to wholeheartedly trust God for your miracle and pray "ridiculous prayers". But, I am asking Graystone Church and whoever else read these blogs, to join me tomorrow in a "group fast" for God to heal Matt Harvie. The first specific miracle that we are trusting God is for Matt to wake up from his coma.

So, if you feel led by God, let me ask you to FAST on Tuesday, June 17. Fasting is simply abstaining from food for spiritual purposes. Every time you have a hunger pain on Tuesday, it will remind you to pray for your miracle and for our corporate miracle of healing Matt Harvie. A normal fast is abstaining from all food, solid or liquid, but not from water (Luke 4:2). Let me encourage you to be sure and drink plenty of water. If you do not feel strong enough or led to do a normal fast, you can do a "partial fast". A "partial fast" is a restriction of diet but not total abstention (Daniel 10:3). You could "fast a meal" (i.e. lunch) or only eat fruit and/or drink fruit juices. Please customize the fast for whatever works best for you. The important thing is to focus your fast on God and use it to elevate your prayer life and trust Him to do only what he can do. May God enable us with Matthew 21:21-22 FAITH.

Also, tomorrow (Tuesday, June 17) we will have a special Prayer Service during the lunch hour (12:00-1:00 PM) at Graystone Church. This will be a "come and go" prayer time in the worship auditorium, and we will have various prayer stations set up (I.e. Hope Chest, prayer altar, cross to write names you are trusting God for salvation, etc.) Kyle will also be playing acoustic worship songs in the background. So, if you are in the Grayson/Loganville area during lunch on Tuesday, please drop by the church for a special time of prayer. If you are not in the area, then you can have your own "prayer service" during lunch wherever you are.

Thank you for joining us in this Day of Prayer and Fasting. If you have any comments or questions, please use the comment portion of this post, and I will try and respond as quickly as possible.

Trusting God to perform miracles,

Pastor Johnny
