I just read an excerpt from Mark Batterson's new book, Wild Goose Chase. It was very timely. Mark's writings always seem to challenge and motivate me to step out in faith.
In the book, Mark uses the the Celtic Christians name for the Holy Spirit which is translated "the Wild Goose". He says that in following the leading of the Holy Spirit, it can sometimes feel like a wild goose chase. And when we are chasing the Wild Goose, we are living a life of faith and adventure. These are my own words but he basically says that the church needs more Christians who are living adventurous, dangerous lives and wreaking havoc on the enemy.
In the article, Mark challenges us Christians to "get out of the comfortable confines of our Christian ghettos and invade some hellholes with the light and love of Christ." He closes the article quoting 20-century missionary, C.T. Studd, "Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell."
The church needs more Studds!

CT Studd was a missionary to China, and some of the fruits of his labor is the home church movement in China today. Backtojerusalem.com is an organization which is coordinating 100,000 Chinese Christian missionaries back to Jerusalem through the silk road. Talk about sacrifice - they can be thrown in prison and beaten for carrying a Bible, so you can imagine the price they pay for missionary work.
