Quit Praying and Start Acting

I have two thoughts on prayer that I have gleaned from chapter 2 of Mark Batterson's new book, Wild Goose Chase.

1. We do not need to pray and ask God for something when it is in our power to do something about it ourselves. One of the great mistakes we make is asking God to do for us what God wants us to do for Him. In some situations, we need to quit praying and start acting.

For example...
Fill out the application.
Make the call.
Pack the U-Haul.
Write the check.
Set up the appointment.
Have the conversation.
Make the move.

"If you want to see God move, you need to make the move!"

"We're waiting on God while God is waiting on us!"

2. We need to pray that God will do something for us (and for our church) that we could never do for ourselves. Therefore, when God does only what God can do, He will get all the glory.

Hopefully, these thoughts on prayer will motivate you not only to PRAY MORE but to ACT MORE.

Expecting Great Things From God...Attempting Great Things For God!

PS We have a big sports weekend ahead: Grayson vs Dacula, Georgia vs South Carolina, Blue Lightning (Julia's Fall Ball Team) plays a double-header, Joelan is playing in his first USTA Tennis Tourney, Miami (Joelan's Fall Ball Team) vs. Tennessee, and my MS Mullets are heavily favored over Tony's Ultimate Avengers.
