Yesterday, at Graystone, I shared our church's simplified mission statement: to know God and make God known. It does not get any simpler than this. This is the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. This is actually the Universal Mission of every Christian. My hopes are that everyone at Graystone would memorize this mission statement, and it would be their reason for getting out of bed in the morning.
Now, God has called all believers to commit to the Universal Mission: to know God and make God known. But God has also called each believer to a Unique Mission. God has an individual plan and purpose for every Christian (Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10, Psalm 139, 1 Corinthians 12). Your Unique Mission is the specific role that you play is fulfilling the Universal Mission. And your unique calling in life depends on how God has gifted you and His sovereign plan for your life. I will discuss more about this tomorrow as we discuss your God-given S.H.A.P.E.
