Personal Goals for 2009

Well, 2008 is almost over. It has been a good year...a hard year...a long year...a blessed year. The end of the year is a great time to reflect, evaluate, think, and thank (pray). And the turn of the new year is a great time to make any needed changes in your life. What areas do you want to grow? focus? What do you need to delete? add? What new years resolutions are you going to make?

I personally prefer to set goals. And I would encourage you not to set too many. I would say 3-5 goals. And they need to be measurable and attainable. I have set three goals for 2009... a personal one, a family one and a career one (all 3 are spiritual).

Here are my three goals for 2009:

1. Set and follow a structured life on life discipleship plan with Joelan, my soon-to-be 12 year old son, than challenges him to grow spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally.

2. Move Graystone Church into her first permanent building on Ozora Road.

3. Weigh less than 195 pounds on my 40th birthday (July 20).

What are your goals for 2009? I would encourage you to set aside some time over the next couple of days to pray, evaluate, and plan to live 2009 by design and not by default.

Have a safe and happy new year!
Johnny

PS I will personally be going down to the Georgia Dome to cheer on the Bayou Bengals. Geaux Tigers!

Well done! I'm not disciplined enough to have annual goals so this year my goal is to have achievable quarterly goals and refresh them at the end of each quarter.

Q1:
1) Lose 10 pounds (thats about 3.34pounds per month - i will weigh in on Jan. 1st.) and exercise 30 minutes three times a week. (might be two goals but one can't happen without the other).

2) Read, study, ponder over the book of Nehemiah and Ecclesiastes - I'm a slow reader and ponderer (is this a word?)

3) Serve, lead and invest in a ministry - not sure where, when, who, or how yet so this one isn't fully defined. In the mean time my goal is to serve where ever God has me today.

4) To create three new goals at the end of Q1. :)
