Last night as I was leaving Julia's school chorus concert at Trip Elementary and rushing over to Joelan's baseball game at Bay Creek Park, one of the fourth grade teachers stopped me in the parking lot. On a side note, this teacher was a college student on a mission trip that Jennifer and I led to Belo Horizonte, Brazil in Summer of 1996. Anyway, she shared with me that the light of Jesus Christ shines brightly through Julia at Trip Elementary.
This compliment about Julia meant much more to me than someone saying, "She is beautiful.", "She is an awesome athlete.", or "She is a great student.". Coincidentally, or maybe not, our family devotion this morning was on Matthew 5:14-16 and talked about us being the light of the world and shining a "bright light" that leads people to Jesus. Is the light of God shining brightly through you in a world that desperately needs Jesus?
