The Image of God

This year I am meeting in two small groups, one with the elders and one with the staff guys, for Bible study, prayer and accountability. Both groups are reading through John Stott's Through the Bible, Through the Year. This morning's daily reflection was on The Image of God from Genesis 1:27.

Human beings are made in the image of God, which gives us capacities and qualities that render us unlike the animals and like God. Therefore...
1. We are rational and self-conscious.
2. We are moral, having a conscious that urges us to do what is right.
3. We are creative, like our Creator, able to appreciate what is beautiful.
4. We are social, able to establish authentic relationships of love.
5. We have a spiritual faculty that makes us hunger for God.

Summary
Human beings are made in the image of God, therefore we are uniquely able to think, to choose, to create, to love and to worship.
