I flew Jennifer up the the Big Apple for a little get-a-way last week. We had a blast, and I earned some major brownie points.
Here are 10 things we did:
10. Participated in the studio audience of "Regis and Kelly Lee LIVE". Their guests were Mario Lopez and 5 guys from Monty Python. This was actually cool for me because I have the movie, "Monthy Python and the Holy Grail" memorized. I was tempted to yell out quotes from the movie but I didn't want to get kicked out and spoil the moment for Jennifer. The show was the highlight of Jennifer's trip. She DVR's the show daily. BTW, Kelly Ripa is REALLY REALLY skinny.
9. Visited Austin's (best friend from high school) office on 35th floor of MTV building overlooking Times Square...sweet view...a little nicer than my basement office.
8. Dinner at Keste in the West Village...recently voted best pizza in NYC.
7. "South Pacific" Broadway Show at Lincoln Center.
6. Put name in the hat twice to win lottery for front row tickets to broadway show, "Wicked"...failed twice. God did not answer my prayers or rather His answer was NO.
5. Lunch at Shake Shack...cool burger and milkshake joint...near Central Park
4. Caught a matinee movie, The Informant, at Union Square...cool area near NYU.
3. Mary Poppins Broadway Show (Missed the Yankee playoff game for this one...did I mention brownie points?)
2. Walked several miles around THE CITY seeing the sights: Times Square, Ed Sullivan Theatre, Hello Deli, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockerfeller Plaza, China Town (Rolex? Louis Vitton?), etc.
1. Spent 4 days and 3 nights with Jenn without the kids (Thanks Grammy!).
Let me encourage all married couples to go on a vacation without the kids. If you want to be great parents, you first have to have a great marriage. Hopefully, Jennifer and I can get-a-way each year...just the two of us.
