Dr. Josh Whitehead did a great job speaking at graystone yesterday. Josh is the Executive Pastor of Faith Promise Church in Knoxville, TN. Josh is a grad of LSU (20-13...btw, I didn't see any red and black shirts on Sunday. And EVERYONE told me that they loved my dryfit Nike LSU shirt. Several people mentioned that purple and gold are beautiful colors.), and he and I went to seminary together. I affectionately call him "big time", because it's just the way he rolls. Our family had a great weekend with the Whiteheads.
Anyway, I loved his analogy that graystone is about to jump over the Grand Canyon (I misspelled "canyon" in the 3rd grade spelling bee at Green Acres Elementary. My teacher was a large woman with a holed paddle that said "hot stuff" on it. Back in those days, at least in MS, it was legal for school teachers to physically discipline the kids). I sure hope we make it to the other side. I'm sure we will by God's grace. If I personally do not make it into the building (i.e. Moses and the Promised Land), at least graystone will receive a fat insurance check, and we can pay everything off.
Building the building has gobbled up a lot more of my time than anticipated, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am truly indebted to several people who have taken much of the load off of me. But I think it's safe to say that we will all be glad when the building is "DUN". I'm really looking forward to the Prayer Walk and Tour of the Building on Sunday, October 11 at 1:00 PM. It will be a special time.
We had another tremendous response of graystoners signing up to volunteer. God is assembling quite an army of servants as we prepare for this "once in a lifetime opportunity" to increase our impact in the community. Hopefully, we will have 100% (ALL IN) of Graystone serving and giving.
On the family front, Jessie had her first haircut (Thanks Karen!), Joelan got braces AGAIN, and Julia loves to do laundry. Jennifer won her tennis match on Sunday afternoon and the MS Mullets are in the lead heading into MNF, but the K-Dawgs have a couple of WR's.
In the words of Kyle Hale, "Later sk8ters" (I probably spelled that wrong.)
Johnny
PS Josh said that Johnny's Blog was ghetto because I use blogger. He said that even my 12 year old son has a blog, Joedawg's Blog, on blogger. Josh is so "big time".
