It’s Wednesday, November 21, 5:45 AM and I have been lying in bed awake since 4:15 AM. This is the 3rd morning of our Orlando vacation and this is the one morning that we had scheduled to sleep in. During the past 1.5 hours I’ve been thinking about everything from Graystone Church building plans to how much money I dropped at Universal Studios these past two days to the name of our new baby. That’s right, Jennifer, my wife, is pregnant with our 3rd child. The baby is due June 16.
This is not a joke or a creative way for me to see how many people really read my blog. Don’t get me wrong, we are incredibly excited about this miracle child in Jennifer's womb but it has thrown us a curve ball. We had it made. Our kids are 8 and 10 years old and can pretty much handle their own business (showering, getting dressed, brushing teeth, balancing a checkbook, etc.). Now, Jennifer and I will be starting all over as parents (good thing we still have that pack-n-play from 1997). When this new one is born, I will be pushing the Big 40 and will certainly be one of the oldest dad’s at his/her high school graduation (Class of 2026).
It’s interesting that every time I think I have things figured out, God reminds me that He is in control. God really does have a sense of humor. I’ve been joking with everyone at Graystone Church that our growth strategy is having babies. And I have been encouraging everyone to be fruitful and multiply. Well, I guess no one can accuse me of not practicing what I preach. On that note, this is not a "personal story" in regards to my Great Sexpectations sermon in the current message series, Love Affair.
