Who is your Timothy (or Tammy for that matter)? Who is your son or daughter in the faith? The Apostle Paul, author of 13 New Testament books and arguably the greatest Christian of all time, refers to Timothy as his son in the faith. He challenges Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2 to take all the Christian instruction that he had received from him and "entrust it to reliable men who will be qualified to teach others". In the verse, we have the Biblical principle of multiplication. In fact, this is the same strategy for growth that Jesus used. Jesus discipled 12 men and entrusted the evangelization of the world into their hands. We see this same principle in the book of Titus as the older women were instructed to teach the younger women how to be godly wives and mothers.
Who is your Timothy (or Tammy)? Who is God laying on your heart to share not only the gospel of God but your life as well. The greatest impact we can have for Jesus Christ is to disciple one or two people to the point where they can disciple others. This is the process of multiplication. For many of us, it starts with discipling our kids.
Some of you may think that you are not spiritually mature enough to disciple others. Hey, we can all find someone that we are a little farther along spiritually. So, who is it that God wants you to invest your life in spiritually and relationally? Is it a friend? neighbor? coworker? student? child? Who is your Timothy (or Tammy)?
