A Strange and Beautiful Weekend

On Saturday it was both strange and beautiful to see blankets of snow falling down on Hotlanta. The kids and I had a great time playing in the snow and building what ended up being the skinniest snowman that I have ever seen.

It was strange to wake up on Sunday morning to a beautiful day considering that we, Graystone's leadership team and several others who called to voice their opinions, cancelled Graystone services due to "INCLEMENT" weather.

It was strange to be sitting in my recliner on Sunday morning watching NFL Live. It was beautiful to turn off the TV and spend some extended time reading the Bible and a great book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day. Speaking of Daily Bible Reading, I finished reading the book of Genesis last week. I love the story of Joseph and how God was always with him through the "good" and "bad" times. And how God used those difficult circumstances in Joseph's life to fulfill His perfect plan and purpose. These are great lessons for all of us (especially the twentysomethings...Joseph was a twentysomething) that God is ultimately in control and works out all things for the good of those who love Him. With finishing the book of Genesis, we are now in the NT book of Mark. I love reading the incredible works of Jesus Christ. Look for some sermons in the near future from the book of Mark.

It was strange to be working out at Bodyplex at 11:00 AM on a Sunday morning. There is only so long that I can sit in a recliner on a beautiful day. I have to admit when I was running on the treadmill listening to my iPod, that I would have much rather been worshipping God at Graystone with Kyle and the band leading us in some of our favorite worship songs.

It is both strange and beautiful that I lost weight this week (currently 214 pounds) considering that we had a two-day staff planning retreat (We ate at some of Kyle favorite restaurants in Milledgeville.) and we had the snow day (Snow days are always justifiable to sit around a pig out.).

Well, there are not many things that could make today more beautiful but at the top of my list is the Green Bay Packers winning the NFC Championship and going to the Super Bowl. By the way, I am already sporting my Brett Favre jersey.

What would be strange is the undefeated New England Patriots getting upset by the banged up San Diego Chargers.
