OK, I just finished reading the NT book of Hebrews. I got a little behind because I spent a couple of days study the Sabbath Rest and the Order of Melchizedek. God opened my eyes to see something this morning in the book of Hebrews that I had never seen before. It has to do with the "Most Holy Place". I'm not sure that I will be able to explain this in a blog but here goes.
Under the Old Covenant in the OT (we just read the book of Leviticus), priests were required to go into the "Most Holy Place" of the Tabernacle/Temple and offer blood sacrifices for the sins of the people. The priest was only allowed to go into the "Most Holy Place" once a year and the people were never allowed to go in. The people were not allowed to go into the "Most Holy Place" because the blood sacrifices of the animals were not enough to completely cover their sins. Well, as we know, Jesus was the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world. He was the once and for all atoning sacrifice for our sins. But here is the new revelation for me. Jesus is the High Priest of the New Covenant. He is Melchizedek, the King of Righteousness. Well, when Jesus died on the cross, the Temple was torn in two and the earthly "Most Holy Place" was destroyed. The Old Covenant was abolished and Jesus ushered in the New Covenant. Here is the cool part.... Now, Jesus is our High Priest who has entered into the eternal "Most Holy Place" which is heaven. And he is interceding on our behalf. He is our mediator. And unlike under the Old Covenant, we can now enter into the "Most Holy Place" (Heaven) through the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ. Now, we can confidently enter the throne of GRACE with confidence.
