Yesterday, March 4, 2008 two of my favorite people decided to "hang up their cleats". First, Brett Favre, after 17 NFL seasons, 3 MVPs, 1 Superbowl title, and just about every major all-time quarterback record, decided to retire. I'm disappointed that I will never see #4 play in a Green Bay Packers uniform again, but I am proud that Brett is retiring on a high note. I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, but I struck Brett out in an 11-12 year old little league all star baseball game.
Secondly, late last night, Mike Huckabee conceded his run for the President of the United States when John McCain secured the 1191 delegates needed to become the Republican Nominee. Huckabee's concession speech was both gracious and motivational. I love the fact that he quoted two Bible verses. One was the Apostle Paul's famous quote at the end of his life and ministry when he said, "I have found the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." Huckabee truly did fight a good fight and kept his faith through the entire campaign process. He is a man of God and a great American. I still like Mike. I'm disappointed that he will not be the next President of the United States, but I trust that God has the perfect plan.
I have to disagree with John McCain's statement during his speech last night when he said, "I don't believe anyone is predestined to lead America." The Bible is very clear that God is the one who appoints rulers and kings. Also, we are to pray for our nation's leaders whether we voted for them or not. I will faithfully pray for Obama, Hillary, or McCain.
