I joke around a lot about being GREAT at meaningless games: ping pong, Ms. Pac-Man (set new high score this week of 120,076 points), carnival games, and fantasy sports to name a few. Even though I am joking in good clean fun, there is a little truth in everything that we say. So, am I prideful or confident? There is a fine line between the two. I do believe that one of the keys to success in life is CONFIDENCE. I am constantly trying to encourage my kids and build up their self-esteem.
I was meditating on James 4:10 this morning. It says, "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." You know, I would much rather God lift me up than lift myself up. And more importantly, I would much rather "humble myself" than have God humble me. I'm sure that I will continue to joke about being super competitive. It is who I am and how God created me. But do know that I am daily "humbling myself before the Lord". And I am trusting that He will be the one to lift me up in the things that truly matter in life.
