We had our first baby shower for Jessie last night in Birmingham, AL. It was a couples dinner/baby shower at the beautiful home of Tank and Amy (Christmas) Tankersly. This is the first baby shower that I have ever attended, but I know that it was "top shelf" as far as baby showers are concerned. We had cute little pink napkins and other "little things" that take baby showers over the top.
It was great to catch up with some close friends who have had a deep impact on our lives spiritually and/or relationally. Many of them have been strong supporters of Graystone Church. There was a lot of laughter. Much of which was focused on me. They were laughing at me...not with me.
The time we lived in B'ham seems like a lifetime ago. We rode by our first house. It is a 3 bd/1ba 1350 square foot house built in the 50's. We went by Samford University were Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education. We would love for Julia to go to this school if God so leads. I like it because it is gated and locked up at 11 PM every night. We drove by Brookwood Hospital where Joelan was born. And from I-20 we saw Cheahah State Park (the highest point in the state of Alabama) where on December 3, 1994 I dropped to one knee and put my life's savings on Jennifer's hand.
Good times.
