Late Friday afternoon I was jogging at Bay Creek Park. I was listening to "Bring Me to Life" on my ipod. I have been addicted to this song ever since Erin and the band performed it during week one of Phobia. Anyway, as I was jogging, I looked down and slithering across the path under my feet was a 3 foot long snake. I am not lying. I almost jumped out of my New Balance. I think that Ophidiohobia is a good fear to have. This Sunday at Graystone I will be talking about 3 different kinds of fears:
1. Imaginary Fears
2. Good Fears
3. Real Fears
The fear of something bad happening to your child is a real fear...a healthy fear. Join with me in prayer for the message this Sunday as I try and teach parents how to overcome the fear of something bad happening to their kids.
As for the snake on the path, I overcame my Ophidiophobia by pounding his head with a large rock. Do worry tree huggers...after he flopped belly up on his back, he regained consciousness and slithered off into the woods. I didn't want to kill him. I just wanted to run him off the path before he gave the next jogger/walker/kid on a bike a heart attack.
