The future of Graystone Church is in good hands. For some people it's hard to think way into the future. I personally live in the future. In fact, I probably spend too much time thinking about the future. It drives Jennifer CRAZY. I am a visionary. I am a dreamer. I am always thinking about how things can and should be. I guess it's a strength but all strengths can become weaknesses if taken to the extreme. On strengthfinders.com, Futurist was one of my strengths.
Anyway, sorry for the tangent on being a futurist. But the future of Graystone Church is in good hands...our kids. It's hard to think that far in the future, but our kids are the future of our church and community. I truly believe that Graystone Church will be around "until the trumpet sounds". And hopefully, Graystone Church will continue to be outreach oriented and continue sharing the love of Christ with our community and world "until everyone hears".
Speaking of Graystone's future...we had 200 kids (birth-5th grade) and 75-100 teenagers at Jersey Day. Last night, 30 kids and youth attended the Baptism Classes. This Sunday, there are over 20 children being dedicated to the Lord. I cannot wait to see how God grows and uses all of these kids for His glory.
I heard a story yesterday that touched my heart. Many of you have heard me talk in my sermons about Ski Bob from the ball park. He is the guy who is making over $100,000 a year selling snow cones to our kids. Well, anyway, Ski Bob was at Graystone Church on Sunday. One of our youth, Madison "Mad-Dawg" Rogers, has befriended Ski Bob and invited him to church. He showed up at Graystone last Sunday and asked for his friend, Madison. (Side note: I just had tears rolling down my cheeks as I was typing this story about Madison reaching out the Ski Bob.) Mad-Dawg, you go girl.
Our kids love God so much. Katelyn Perez was sick yesterday and could not attend the baptism class. She was disappointed because she thought that she would not be able to get baptized. She told her mom, "Why can't I get baptized? I LOVE JESUS!" If only us grown-ups had "faith like a child".
Our future is in good hands.
PS I heard murmurs from the twenty-somethings section last night at 1st Wednesday when I mentioned the sermon title this Sunday being about parents/kids. Don't worry twenty-somethings, this sermon will apply to you because I am going to be talking about the broader topic of "Trusting God" in the good times and the bad. So quit your little murmuring. By the way, you also are the future of Graystone (along with your future spouse and offspring).
PSS There is a Starbucks on every corner of NYC...and a hot dog stand too (no yellow mustard though).
