Early Morning Meeting

"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?" Psalm 42:1-2

This morning as the sun was coming up, I sat on the back porch, drank my morning coffee and spent some time with God. I was reminded of Psalm 42:1-2 and how every night I need to go to bed with a longing to wake up and spend time with God through prayer and Bible study. The back deck may be my new quiet time spot, because it takes away all temptations of diving into my workday before connecting with God. Some days, I am guilty of checking email, writing a blog, or planning a meeting before committing my day to the Lord.

I long to be like the Psalmist and thirst for God as a deer thirsts for streams of water. My challenge to all of us is to connect with God each morning before we get wired into the busyness and noise of our lives. How about you? Do you go to bed with a longing to wake up and meet with God? Where is your quiet time place? What time will you meet with God each day?
