Many of you have asked me how Matt Harvie is doing. Kelly's latest Caring Bridge post was a difficult one for me to read. Matt is being discharged from outpatient therapy on January 8th. They feel that Matt's improvement has plateaued and at the very least, he needs a break. This is tough news. So, please keep praying for Matt, Kelly and their 5 children. I know that Matt is a competitor and will not give up. He says that he can do the rehab at home. From my lay person's opinion, Matt's two biggest challenges are still walking and talking.
Jessie and I did get a chance to visit Matt last Friday. His spirits seem to be high. He beat me in several hands of cards. The one hand that I did win, he jokingly called me a jerk. Matt still has his sense of humor and his competitive spirit. The Harvie family is traveling to Sunset Beach, North Carolina for Christmas to visit Kelly's mom. Let's pray that they have a great vacation and that the trip stimulates Matt's progress.
