5th Annual Father Daughter Dance

Tonight, Julia and I are attending our 5th Annual Father Daughter Dance. She is growing up way too fast. This is one of my favorite nights of the year. Julia will take a couple of hours to get ready...fix her hair, make up?, and put on the new dress/outfit that we bought her for this special occasion. I actually bought a shirt to make her outfit. She wants me to be "cool and casual".

We will arrive to the event, take our picture, and have dinner together. Then, we will enter the gym where the dance is taking place. We will start off dancing together to some fast songs (I hope of have the moves tonight. I get them once a month.) Then, she will end up dancing with her friends while us dads watch from the sidelines. She will drag me around the room (kind of reminds me of when I was at a high school dance) to see all her friends. We will take lots of pictures. Then, at some point we will dance to some slow songs like "My Girl", "Butterfly Kisses", and "Cinderella". I may shed a tear or two.

After an hour or so, Julia will come down from all the excitement and be completely exhausted physically and emotionally. Her shoes will be off at this point. We will make plans with all of her friends to leave the dance early and meet us at Bruster's. We will have a big time at Bruster's over chocolate ice cream. We will tell her friends goodbye. When we arrive home we will show pictures to mom and give a play by play recap of the night. Then, I will give Julia a goodnight hug and she will crash for the night.

I absolutely love the Father Daughter Dance. I will have one more with Julia next year. Then, I will have 6 more to look forward to with Jessie when she is in elementary school.

God is good!
Johnny
