I'm a Black Preacher Want-To-Be

The sermon this Sunday is going to be AWESOME! At least, I think it is (Lord willing). This morning I have had visions of me at Graystone Church this upcoming Sunday dressed in a suit preaching with the fervor of a great black preacher...taking breaks to catch my breath while wiping the sweat from my brow with a white handkerchief to the sounds of AMENS filling the auditorium. I'm not sure it is going to go down this way on Sunday, but for the second time in the last 6 months every room in my basement just got saved. This Sunday I'm sharing one of my favorite passages of Scripture, the story of The Prodigal Son. It is really hard to mess this one up. My prayer for Sunday is that many "prodigals" will come home to God and that all of our parents will pour out their hearts in prayer for their kids. This is a sneak peak of my sermon but here are three prayers that we need to be praying for our kids:
1. Pray they will have the right friends (Proverbs 1:10-15)
2. Pray they will get caught when guilty (Psalm 119:71)
3. Pray that God will do WHATEVER it takes (This is a scary prayer, but it is for those parents who mean business with God.)

Please join with me this week and pray for God to do this Sunday amazingly more than we could ever ask or imagine. Typically, church attendance is down on Super Bowl Sunday but am hoping that we will break the mold at Graystone. I'm trusting God that we will have one of our BIGGEST Sundays yet and that many people will make HUGE decisions for God.

Trusting God for a Super Sunday,
Jonathan

P.S. I may or may not be wearing a suit on Sunday.
