Well, our vacation is over, and we are back home in the BIG L-ville. I am theming this blog, Status, to update you on various "statuses". For example, there are 178 unread emails on my office computer.
My facebook status currently reads, "Jonathan Howes is not Laird Hamilton." The reason that I wrote this is because on Wednesday night, I went out into the gulf and tried to boogie board. Long story short, my boogie board was too small for 200+ pounds and the first big wave slammed my head into the bottom of the ocean. BTW, the ocean floor is harder than you think. I have a big red strawberry on my forehead and a really bad headache. I actually think I might have suffered a slight concussion.
I have taken my minivan status to a hole nuttha level. With the addition of Jessie and all her stuff (I.e. pack-n-play, stroller, etc.), we had to travel to Florida with a "car top" on top of the minivan. The entire trip I teetered between "proud poppa" and "embarrassed minivan driver".
I gained 5 pounds on vacation, and my current weight is 208. Jenn and I are starting a little fitness plan today. My goal is to drop under 200 pounds for the first time in approx. 10 years. With the upcoming Man Series at Graystone Church, I was going to challenge any Graystone member who weighs under 200 pounds to get in the octagon with me. But my head is hurting so bad today, the thought of getting punched, kicked, elbowed, or kneed repeatedly to the skull does not sound as fun as it did two days ago.
My hair is now long enough to comb and part to the side. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the "comb-over" or go back to my normal "finger-length messy look"????
Dustin Mattox turned 30 years old yesterday. Man is he old!
I now have 200 friends on facebook. Some of these people I have never met, or I cannot remember them from high school.
Matt Harvie continues to slowly progress down the long road to recovery.
I have gotten really behind on our Daily Bible Reading Plan but am enjoying our study through the book of James. Chapter 3 on "Taming the Tongue" is really convicting.
Jessie is 6 weeks old today.
Graystone Church is making BIG TIME progress obtaining a building permit from Gwinnett County and the new projected date to begin construction is Monday, August 4th.
I have many other "statuses" to communicate, but I want to save some of the BIG ONES for my August 3 "State of the Church Address"/Vision Sunday.
